What happened with the App. About a month ago, it appears the app went back to standard time. The thermostat on the wall is working correctly, but the app doesn’t match. I was hoping the last update would fix it, but it didn’t. Example: I have it scheduled to drop the temperature at 4:00 pm. The app doesn’t change until 5pm for the 4pm change. The thermostat on the wall shows correctly. Also, when I change the temperature on the app, it doesn’t always stay. The problem is when we look at the app, it’s incorrect. We are old with health issues and rely on the app so we don’t have to struggle to get to the thermostat. Please fix it!

New update. Was working great again and now isn’t. Temperature isn’t lowering when I tell it to for the preset. Also the app: I will change the temp and it will turn on to run, then when I got to change it again it’s back to the original temp and I can’t shut off the unit to stop it from running. I have to run off the air completely! Please do an update to the app

I have been using the app for about five minutes. It takes a few seconds to respond to a touch. My change to my thermostat’s name was not displayed immediately. I don’t understand how the app can be so bad.

I’m not really sure about this app. I wish there was a way to have the app not notify you every time someone walks by the door. On Apple HomeKit, they have feature on there that says not to be notified when you’re home. Also, for whatever reason, the camera keeps on shutting off, and when I go on the app, the camera is toggled off a lot

The features which made us buy 15 thermostats are removed one by one 1) Their app doesn't show the occupancy of the home anymore, they removed it from the main screen. Wrote many times to support, they even didn't respond. 2) IFTTT integration doesn't work anymore since May 8th. IFTTT said they have issues on Ecobee side and Ecobee is working on fixing them. But seems that Ecobee dropped IFTTT integration and not offering anymore 3) Ecobee used to email for a 'possible problem' when the temperature set cannot be reached for extended durations. Now they don't anymore, so you don't get any warnings These were simple convenience features, which were already offered to users, now they're taken away one by one

App is good except the recording except the usage record feature isn’t recording.

Looks like since the last update, I haven’t been able to remotely access my thermostats. They are listed as ‘offline’ in the app, and will not connect to wifi. Wifi in the house is working across the board for all items, ecobee is the only one not working. At first, it said the thermostats were connected to WiFi, but not the ecobee server. Then it said the password for the wifi was incorrect, despite the passwords being correct.

This app and thermostat have been fantastic for me for the last 5 or so years. No issues. The most recent update, as of the last couple days (May 2025), the app no longer works. Initially the eco+ setting in the app was just blocking my ability to change the temperature. I disabled that feature and reinstalled the app, and now the app simply won't show the correct temperature set point: no matter what I do, the app thinks the set point is 78. As a software engineer, I would classify this bug as critical. I sure hope the company fixes this soon. I am not going to tank the rating to 1 star since the app has been good for a long time, but a severe bug like this will result in a dropped score.

First time I’ve had an issue with the iOS App. App shows a different comfort mode and temp setting than the Ecobee T-stat on the wall (which is correct). The app seems to ‘ lag’ one mode setting. The wall thermostat does indicate and function correctly; issues is just with the app. And yes I’ve looked at all the possibilities that could cause this and all such settings were fine; like Smart recovery ‘off’, app is latest version, etc.

May 2025. Every time I switch from AC to Heat or Heat to AC it changes my set temperature to some random number that it wasn’t set to previously.

The app needs improvement. It doesn’t update in real time, it takes for ever to update to the current setting of the actual thermostat, like if it turns on the AC, it doesn’t change to display a status of “cooling” it just shows “cool”. The app is not accurate. The actual thermostat never goes into Away Mode, it’s false advertising.

Can’t get it to turn on the AC until 4pm. Some hidden setting preventing manual override. Forces firmware updates to the device without consent. Now my room sensor that came with the thermostat wont successfully pair anymore.

Thermostat has great features on it but has a really weird way of managing temperature by range instead of target. So we constantly have to monitor and adjust instead of relying on it to manage temperature properly. Also, the door sensor uses a glue-based adhesive that lasted 10 months before final failure (it kept falling off so we tossed it) and we will replace it and 6 other ecobee sensors with a competitors solution.

Changing the fan setting from on to auto cause the thermostat to raise the desired temperature from 68 to 73.

Not only doesn't constantly lose the Wi-Fi connection. The app is of no help. It's like some idiot organized it. It keeps calling comfort settings a "hold". To get to anything requires a bunch of menus that don't make any sense to any normal person. The entire thing is illogical.

I reliably only ever get reminders to change my filter when I am away from home, with a vacation programmed into the thermostat. How hard can it be to just check whether there's currently a vacation underway and postpone the reminders for a day and check again then?

I buy the very best “premium” thermostat and every time I log into the app I see ads?! That is unprofessional and makes me DRASTICALLY less likely to choose Honeywell or Ecobee branded products in the future. You’ve show yourselves to not be trustworthy. Also! “Away” should be determined by the phone’s location, not only movement. Stop cooking my newborn at night because we are ASLEEP!!

This app is fine as far as most things, but it’s very confusing when it comes to turning things off and turning things on. It has hold as in fan hold or comfort hold. There’s no clear explanation of what that means to me. I just wanted to turn the fan on, but there’s no fan on button it’s fan hold what does that mean? Does that mean it’s does that mean it’s does that mean it’s holding some point in the future and it turns itself on. Just have an on button or an off button or if you want to use hold make it clear with that actually means it’s really annoying.

Why require me to set a comfort setting? Why not let me delete the sleep schedule? I want complete control over my AC.

Setting up a schedule in the app will drive you crazy. It keeps overwriting to one for the next few days when you setup. Display doesn’t sleep in sleep setting (after setting it do that)

Why is the widget always breaking? And… it stays broken for months. It might be helpful if your developers did some testing before doing app updates. If you don’t want to maintain a working widget, don’t offer it. Your customer experience is suffering.

Smart security doesn’t appear on app, cannot pull my insurance certificate, older version of app worked but with update smart security widget vanished. Over hr with support. No resolution.

User interface is atrocious. Functionality is terrible. Ecobee devices & app are far from smart. Constant errors preventing you from adjusting the temperature in your own home. Excessive data collection. Overpriced. Unresponsive. DO. NOT. BUY.

It’s a worthless app. Logged me out and having a hard time logging back on. Tried to rest my logging password and no reply on my email. Sent it several times and no reply.

The customer service was fantastic. I was having a hard time installing and a customer service rep. Spent probably two hours helping me out.

I love my ecobee thermostat! The only thing I would like to see is a faster refresh rate between what the thermostat display shows and the ecobee app. There is quite a difference! Causing unnecessary adjustments?

Ecobee doesn't know when to leave a good thing alone. This used to be a 5 star app. Those days are over. The latest temperature change UI is so bad it's almost unusable. It interprets any errant taps in the black area as a "commit". So any slightly jittery hand movement exits the temperature change mode. It's inexplicably bad, one of the worst designs I've ever seen. The same UI is mirrored on the thermostat and if you can imagine it's 10x worse on the device than on iPhone. I find myself having to change the temperature 2 or 3 times just to make a single change. Dear Ecobee, stop breaking things that work because your UI designers need to validate their existence. We've come a long way from the Smart Si days to now trying to sell me filters in the app, and it's all been downhill.

I’ve tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app but it STILL won’t let me turn off eco+. Despite changing it to the lowest setting, it adjust the daytime cool temp to be 75. We didn’t even keep the house that warm through the winter! We work from home and are getting tired of adjusting the temps over and over. It’s been months. With summer approaching we’re increasingly regretting choosing this system over the Nest that we had in our old place.

Loving my Ecobee. My whole HVAC system is loving the new addition.

I've had an ecobee for over 2 years, and I still have difficulty navigating this application and getting it to do what I want. I'm happy to not have a Google product, but I miss the UI of my Nest.

Why are there pop up ads in the app?

Terrible UX, lacking features and needed controls, software and the whole app is steaming pile of shift.

PLEASE STOP PUTTING ADVERTISEMENTS ON THE MAIN SCREEN OF MY APP!

Looses connection sometimes. Eco friendly is not really it's made up to be. It is a pain in the neck to manage. I'm managing it manually now.

I had my Ecobee for 10 years now and it had worked without problems. The app quality has gone down over time, not better. Looking for simplicity like turning off the AC here in Florida if I want to open the doors or window for airing. Looking for one click operation!

The App makes it so easy to make changes when we are home and away! It was not hard to learn how to use the App! We are so happy to have it! Thank you!

Every time I open this app it pisses me off. I’ve had a continuous red dot on the discovery button since I installed the app. I open up discovery and it wants me complete setup but all the steps were completed for months but it still wouldn’t clear setup. Now it wants to me to invite someone — I’ve already done that once but I can’t clear setup until I do it again. I am not going to keep inviting the same person who doesn’t want this app on their phone. There’s a list of things to try. I already have a schedule so I don’t need to try that. I don’t use HomeKit. But I can’t clear these things because the Xbutton doesn’t work. Don’t get me started on the Alexa part of this. That’s a complete failure. I had to disable that feature that worked so well with my Honeywell thermostat.

My widget stopped working.

Running version 12.6. The current house temperature displayed on the app is 1 degree different than what is shown on the thermostat wall control.

Difficult to use. None of the buttons seem to take you where one would expect, it’s hard to find setting for the thermostat. Please reconsider the usability.

Super disappointed in this app that was given to me as a gift. Just give me an old-fashioned thermostat. Half the time it tells me my air quality is poor for no reason… And that’s when I have my huge HEPA air filter right next to the sensor so I doubt it’s credibility then the other half the time I have to walk over to it and change the thermostat manually because it’s either blasting cold air or doing nothing… even after I’ve adjusted the settings. Lastly, they’re away from home is just stupid. Automatically changes when your phone is out of the house. Do they not think people have dogs?

I do not like that I cannot use the thermostat with Apple Home without enabling motion detection and Occupancy sensor. When I remove these options during setup the installation cannot continue.

After the latest update from iPhone, my ecobee is not showing a preview for the doorbell camera. Before the update, I would get an alert notification which I could long press and it would display a picture of whoever was at the front door along with an option to dismiss that preview so I could look at the other ecobee alerts below it. Since the update, it will not display a picture and it does not display the dismiss option.
